Tuere Tidwell

Tuere Tidwell

Tuere graduated from Minneapolis Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice, with plans to complete her bachelor’s. Her passion is helping people in every way that she is able. Advocating for the rights of our Muslim sisters is a primary goal for her. She has volunteered with Masjid An-Nur, Masjid Nimat ul Islaam, and Pearls of Hope; She loves cooking, serving at the food shelf, and assisting with teaching. For Tuere, working with SNAP has become a chance to really make a difference for our Muslim women and children within the community.

 

 

 

 

Qurina Slayhi

Qurina Slayhi

Quriha is a graduate of Hamline University with a Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language. She currently works as a Multilingual teacher. Her passion is working with youth towards creating a better community through education and relationships. She is an organizer and a good community connector. Her skills allow her to support SNAP in social media and technology. She has been certified in CPR First Aide, Crisis Prevention, Suicide Prevention, and Restorative practices

 

 

 

Hope Sweeney

Hope Sweeney

Hope served as the board secretary and volunteer interpreter for Minnesota Deaf Muslim Community (MDMC) for more than seven years. She currently serves as the board secretary for Sisters Need a Place (SNAP). She attended Cuyahoga Community College and helped to form their first Black Student Union and later attended Kent State University earning a degree in secondary education. Hope is currently working on her Master’s in Education.

 

 

 

 

Zakkiyya Abdulwahid-Selby

Zakkiyya Abdulwahid-Selby

Zakkiyya is married with 4 children and has lived in Minnesota for 14 years. Her background is in Communication. Zakkiyya is currently the community liaison for Pearls of Hope Community Center. Before this, she was the Office Manager for Pearls of Hope Community Center. She loves working with children and loves helping people. Zakkiyya is excited to be a part of the SNAP Community.
